What Is Chat GPT?
You may have heard the term Chat GPT come up recently in the news.
Allow us to introduce you.
First, we thought we’d let it answer the question for us. We prompted the chatbot with “What is ChatGPT?
Here is what it had to say:
“ChatGPT is an advanced language model created by OpenAI that can generate human-like responses to a variety of prompts. It can be used in chatbots and natural language processing applications to analyze and understand language. However, it is important to use ChatGPT responsibly and to be aware of its limitations, such as potential biases in the training data.” --ChatGPT (OpenAI)
NOT YOUR AVERAGE CHAT BOT
ChatGPT looks like your average chat box. There’s a place to enter text and when you hit enter, there’s a response to whatever question you’ve asked it. However, this isn’t a simple question and answer chat session, you can ask it almost anything. Like a conversation, it doesn’t just stop with one question, one response. You can modify your queries, add to them, ask for a different style response such as funny or serious, the possibilities are endless!
For example, we decided to let it answer our question above (What is ChatGPT?) in blog format. It came back with a 5-paragraph response, going in depth as to what it is and what it does. I then asked it to give me a “condensed version”, which it did, in under a minute.
I think this thing is going to take my job! It’s a huge time saver, but it lacks my wonderful charm and personality!
WE NEED HUMAN EMOTIONS AND OPINIONS, AM I RIGHT?
That’s not the only con. It’s also extremely confident. I asked it, “What is Computer Island LLC?” It said that Computer Island LLC was in Staten Island, NY. I did a quick search and didn’t see anything in Staten Island, NY going by the name of Computer Island LLC. It’s the confidence that it existed, and it was the only one, that could cause confusion for someone taking this at face value.
WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS?
There are a ton of pros and cons, which I won’t get into because we would probably be here awhile, and I can feel your attention span waning! (Note the charm and personality
ChatGPT is an amazing tool that is just getting started, even though it's been around for a while. Big companies like Google, Microsoft, and Meta (Facebook) are making their own versions. We’re going to hear about this more and more in the next coming months. Hopefully you have a basic idea of what it is and what it can do!
