Windows 7 Product Support to End

Untitled.jpg

Did you know that Windows 7 came out in 2009? Usually Microsoft ends OS support after 5 years, but Windows 7 was such a hit among users, it stuck around for 10 years!

So for those users that enjoy Windows 7 so much, we have some bad news.

Support for Windows 7 will end on January 14th, 2020. This means that technical and software assistance that help protect your machine will end.

Now, don’t hate on Microsoft please ;) They gave us Windows 7 for much longer than they normally would. Props to them for recognizing what people want. I actually prefer Windows 10. It’s much easier for me to use than Windows 7. It blows Windows 8 out of the water! Truly don’t know what Microsoft was thinking with Windows 8 :)

If you’re a business owner and run Windows 7 you still have options and time to prepare for the shift to Windows 10. Microsoft will offer Extended Security updates for Window 7 Professional at a cost. This cost will double year-by-year. For the first year, expect to pay $25 per device. This price will rise to $100 per device by year 3.

So to sum it up, you’re going to need to upgrade to Windows 10. If you need any help, as always, Computer Island is here to help. If you have any questions, give us a call!
